Name That Goat - January Giveaway!

Ah.  This contest is now closed!  The family will be sitting down to our weekly old-fashioned Sunday brunch today and we'll pick a name!  I'll post winners AND the next contest on Monday morning.  Have a blessed Sunday.

This is one of our goats.  She is a sweet young girl who lives on Terra Dei Farm with all of her goat friends and is anxiously awaiting the arrival of her kids (goat babies) this spring.  She lives happily.  Except for one thing.  She doesn't have a name.  *cue frown face here*  She hears the other goats being talked to by name and sighs with remorse that her identity remains nameless.

Okay, cut through the melodrama.  Seriously, yo!  This lady needs a name and YOU can fix that!  What's in it for you?  BAM:

Black Lab Stationary, Labrador Retriever

A set of our best-selling black lab cards.  Made on gorgeous heavyweight textured stock with an elegant deckle edge on both the cards and envelopes.  Submit the winning name and you'll receive a set for free (we'll even cover the cost of shipping!)

Meat Goat at Terra Dei Farm

HOW TO WIN:

~ Simply leave a comment with your suggested name.  Only one entry per person.

~ Submissions will be accepted until 11:59pm (Central Time) on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013.

~ Since our animals are a large part of our family, submitted names will be judged in a family discussion.  We encourage creativity with your name selection!  (Literary characters, historical characters, superhero names...)

~ Winner will be announced (and the next "Name That Animal" giveaway contest revealed) on our newsletter.

And, while we're on the subject of give-aways, the remarkable Lisa Jacobs of Marketing Creativity is currently running a give-away for small creative businesses with $2000 in prizes.  Seriously, NOT a typo!  Head on over and check it out: here.   After you submit your goat name of course.

Melissa...I just immediately thought of that when I saw her. What a sweetie..and she must have a name! xo Alisann

Nancy Drew

Poor girl without a name! It's so hard to name an animal. I like human names- not silly ones!

I love the color of her hair with the rusty red/orange in it! I like the name * Joslyn *

Have fun picking!

Olivia thinks you should name her olive

Ella May

Ella May

Love Olive! That was one of my girl name choices that I could never sell Matt on!

Name her Magnolia! She's a perfect color for that - and you can call her Maggie for short. I think it's a beautiful goat name!!! :-D :-D

xoxo bekah

She just looks like a "PEARL" to me.
She's the right color and looks like a gem of a goat!

Freckles

Betty Housworth (From Hobby Farmers of MO FB group) nominates the name "Droopy".

I'm thinking she is an Opal with her coloring and those eyes...something old fashioned and valuable there. :)

My pick is *Sybella* Love her sable color!

I vote for the name Mrs. Justina Williams. here is why. I wana tell my boss he has a twin sister named after him. He's totally not a country type person so to tell him the story of how i entered the name and it actually got picked would give me and my co-workers something to clown on him about.I think it will be hilarious. That and Justina Williams just sounds smart and elegant for a goat mother to be teaching her kids the ropes of the farm.

Marshmellow or Snowball. We once had a goat that our daughter named Marshmellow. She was colored similar to this goat and she was our best milker.

Augusta after the heart of wine country in Missouri! This goat looks like she has very refined taste buds! ;-)

Agetha...I always loved this name, it was my g-grandma's name and would have loved naming one of my kids that...but Carson didn't like it and we have all boys :(

I immediately thought of the name "Snowflake" when I saw her. Beautiful goat!

Tallulah of course!

Hi guys :)

I had to lood at her for a little bit....and I think that she is gentle with warm eyes....her name just has to be Emily.

what fun and she is a beauty!!

thanks
Jen

Baabra-Ann, like the Beach Boys song - "Bah bah bah, bah baa-bra ann" :)

Hope she has a name very soon!

Sarah K

she looks like a Stella to me

Hmm... after looking through the pictures of your other goats, it looks like Ruth needs a friend. Therefore, this one should be Naomi. :)

Alex, your farm is beautiful! I could learn so much from you! We need to catch up. SOON!

Madonna...the Mother of Christ or the singer...whichever you choose.

I agree with Theresa up there^^ she looks like a Freckles.

Chloe

Not sure why, she just looks like a Chloe.

I think she looks like a Freya. Freya was a Norse goddess who ruled over a meadow in the afterlife, and was associated with fertility.

Sally ^^

As soon as I saw her, she looked like an Elmira to me! :)

Bernice! She looks like a Bernice to me! :)
Brooke x

......Cashmere. hugs

She is such a cutie! I would go with Sprite or Cricket??

I thought of Lady Jane

She looks like a Shyla to me. What a beauty!

i think she would want to be daphne or delilah :)

Heidi!!! Heidi had goats, so it would be super ironic. But I also love the name Heidi. She looks like a cute little sweet girl!

I think she looks like a Sue Ellen.

I immediately thought of Pippi, inspired from Pippi Longstocking. What with her rusty-red hinted locks and her playful, quirky look in that second picture, Pippi seems a perfect fit. Not to mention her horns resemble Pippi's pigtails. : )

I think she looks like a Matilde - or Matilda, your choice. :) And I wholly support that the decision be made by a family discussion. Have fun!

she looks like a Lisa or a Rosemary to me

I think she should be called Veronica because it's such a pretty name and she's such a pretty girl.

How about Abigail.

My first thought was Theodore! And then I realized she was a lady goat. :) So how about Thea?

Martha!

Her name should be Cookie Dough! For sure!

Amalthea - from the goat that in ancient Greek mythology raised and gave food to Zeus as baby, when Rea, his mother, hided him from his father, Cronus, who had this... little habit of eating his own children :-)

Blanquita - fusion of spanish meanig the white one!
She is sooooooooooooooo cute!

Bohemian_sin(at)yahoo(dot)com

She definitely looks like a "Cheese" if you ask me, which you did. lol.

Good luck naming her!

She is such a cutie! I would call her Isabella. (:

Butterfly......as soon as I looked at her my daughter and I both said butterfly. She has the look of one when you look at her horns and ears and her face.
